The Theatrical Tailoring Course is designed to train highly specialized professionals in the creation and management of stage costumes. The main objectives include:

• Mastery of Tailoring Techniques: Acquire advanced skills in cutting, sewing and making costumes, with particular attention to stage needs.

• Historical and Cultural Knowledge: Deepen your knowledge of the history of costume and fashion, understanding the evolution of clothing through the ages and its cultural implications.

• Design Skills: Develop skills in drawing and designing costumes, both manually and through digital tools, to translate creative concepts into practical realizations.

• Costume Department Management: Learn to organize and manage the costume department, coordinating team activities and ensuring the maintenance and conservation of the costumes.

Fundamentals of Tailoring Pattern Making

-study of tailoring measurements and techniques

-study of fit and basics of modelling

-modeling techniques: study of the basics (bodice, dresses, skirts, trousers and shirts)

-tailoring pattern making: development of paper patterns for

ready-to-wear and haute couture

-placement on fabric and study of transfers of shots

Structural details and tailoring changes

-study and design of collars, sleeves and silhouettes

-tailoring alterations: shortening, tightening, widening, application of zippers, snaps, elastic, Velcro, etc.

The training course combines theory and practice, offering a complete and immersive experience. The main teaching components include:

• Theoretical Lessons: Study of the history of costume, analysis of fabrics and insights into fashion in cinema and theatre.

• Practical Workshops: Exercises on historical cutting, moulage techniques, millinery, embroidery and dyeing, with the aim of creating complete costumes.

• Application Projects: Development of individual and group projects, from the conception to the creation of the costume, including accessories and jewelry.

• professional experiences: Internship opportunities at theatres, tailoring workshops and film productions, to apply the skills acquired in real contexts.

Our curriculum includes the following topics: historical cutting, tailoring, moulage, millinery, embroidery and dyeing techniques, as well as modules on costume history and character analysis.

Il corso in Sartoria Teatrale è progettato per formare professionisti capaci di gestire l’intero processo di sviluppo dei costumi di scena, dalla progettazione del cartamodello alla confezione finale. Gli studenti acquisiscono competenze avanzate nella modellistica e nella sartoria teatrale, imparando a interpretare le esigenze specifiche delle produzioni artistiche e a trasformarle in creazioni di alta qualità.

Grazie a una formazione completa e specializzata, i diplomati saranno pronti a intraprendere una carriera nel mondo della sartoria teatrale, sia all’interno di teatri lirici, teatri di prosa, compagnie teatrali, produzioni cinematografiche o televisive, sia come sarti e modellisti freelance, sviluppando un proprio brand o collaborando con realtà artigianali e industriali.
